EF International Language Campuses: Trinity Caldwell

Trinity Caldwell studied Spanish with EF International Language Campuses in Costa Rica.

What made you want to study Spanish abroad?

I knew that a Spanish program was right for me. I have always loved that language and was very inspired by my Spanish teacher during freshman year. I wanted to learn as much as I could quickly, and when I saw the EF Intensive course on my university’s study abroad page, it seemed like a good fit for me.

What was a typical day like in your language program?

I wake up at 6 and have breakfast with my host family. Then I catch the bus to school around 7 a.m. and I start my classes at 8 a.m. After class, I enjoy lunch with friends (who come from all around the world), explore the city, or lounge by the pool. Later, I catch the bus back to my home to eat dinner and chat with my host family. During the weekends there are trips to other cities so you get the chance to explore the area.

What was the most memorable moment in your program?

My most memorable moment here at EF would have to be when I first arrived to Costa Rica and everything was so nice and exciting. My host family greeted me with open arms and I just knew this would be the experience of a lifetime.

What’s your advice for students considering a gap year or study abroad experience?

Take the chance. Get the once in a lifetime experience! Yes, it’s going to be hard and you're going to struggle at times, but it’s all part of the process. It will get easier and you will learn so much and make so many friends along the way.
