Recognizing the importance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) for a prosperous future, both leaders in industry and academia encourage students to pursue studies and careers in these disciplines. Many educators and businesses, including Google, also appreciate the integral role of art and design in driving innovation. For them, STEM plus Art = STEAM.

    Doodle 4 Google

Google supports its belief in STEAM with its annual Doodle 4 Google competition, which features a different theme each year. 2024's challenge asked young artists aged 13 and up to use their artistic skills to answer the prompt: "My wish for the next 25 years..."

The 2024 awards included a $55,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology package for the winning student's school. Google believes “the most ambitious ideas and untethered creativity of young people can help make the world a better place.”

The Doodles are judged based on:

    • Artistic merit
    • Creativity
    • Theme communication

In addition to the national winner, Google will also award 55 state and territory winners and five national finalists. Five specialty award winners will be celebrated for creating Doodles aligned with Google's values:

    • Planet Award
    • Good Neighbor Award
    • Imagination Award
    • Biggest Smile Award
    • Tech Whiz Award

    The Timeline

Entries are typically due near the end of March (the 2024 deadline for submission was March 21 at 11:59 PST). Visit the website to download or print the entry form. Contestants (ages 13+) can submit their entries online or by mail.
