U.S. News Acquires TeenLife Media
Posted August 14, 2024, 6:00 pm byAs former U.S. ambassador to the UN Adlai E. Stevenson once said, “Change is inevitable. Change for the better is a full-time job.”
For 17 years, Marie Schwartz, the founder of TeenLife, has advocated for change for the better. She started the company in 2007 because she felt frustrated by the lack of resources for parents and teens. TeenLife has grown into a leading discovery platform for teen-centered summer, gap, volunteer, and other experiences for middle and high school students; the online directory is evolving once again.
Enter U.S. News & World Report, which has acquired and added TeenLife to the U.S. News College Advisor division. The mission remains the same: advising students on programs and services that inspire purpose and passion for college and beyond.
A complementary partnership
CollegeAdvisor.com offers comprehensive college admissions counseling services. The platform provides personalized support, helping students navigate the complex application process and make informed decisions. An advocate for accessibility, CollegeAdvisor.com caters to students from diverse backgrounds, offering resources and guidance tailored to individual needs.
TeenLife is the ultimate resource for discovering enriching opportunities for tweens and teens.
We believe that meaningful experiences outside the classroom are essential for personal growth, academic success, and future opportunities. By providing a centralized platform for exploring and accessing these programs, we have empowered young people to build well-rounded resumes, develop essential life skills, and discover their passions.
TeenLife is the perfect complement to the CollegeAdvisor.com program.
“TeenLife’s offerings are a terrific supplement to the myriad ways U.S. News helps students in their college admission and selection process as well as being exposed to numerous learning experiences,” said U.S. News Executive Chairman & CEO Eric Gertler. “This acquisition now empowers millions of students and their families to make decisions with confidence with respect to thousands of academic and experiential learning opportunities.”
How parents and teens will benefit
“Our mission is to make it simple for teens to develop a meaningful personal experience portfolio, no matter the makeup of their individual interests, talents, and resources,” said Marie Schwartz, founder of TeenLife. “Now, with the reach and impact of CollegeAdvisor.com, I am exhilarated by how many more students we can support with the power of the U.S. News brand behind us.”
TeenLife strengthens U.S. News & World Report's commitment to empowering students by providing a comprehensive resource for enriching experiences. Alongside U.S. News' existing suite of student services like College Advising, MyFit Custom Rankings, and Scholarship Finder, TeenLife offers a unique platform for exploring experiential learning opportunities.
“As students and their families continue to search for resources that will enhance their educational experiences, TeenLife makes it easy for them to find comprehensive information they can trust,” said U.S. News Senior Vice President Chris DiCosmo. “We are excited to infuse CollegeAdvisor.com's robust admissions consulting with the resources from TeenLife to provide enhanced comprehensive admissions support to students across the country.”
