The University of Tampa: Lisa Marie Lebron

Lisa Marie Lebron studies voice and music education at the University of Tampa.

    What got you into music?

I have loved music since I was little. When I was in middle school I joined the choir and then I got involved in musical theater during high school.

What is it you like about performing?

My favorite part of performing is seeing the joy in people’s faces. Getting a reaction out of the audience during the performance keeps my energy going, even through my seven-minute arias.

What’s the hardest part about performing?

The hardest part about performing is learning to trust yourself after all of those hours of trying to get your pieces just right. I always have to remember that I am there to show the music and to show how much I have learned from my music studies at The University of Tampa.

What attracted you to the University of Tampa?

The University of Tampa’s Music Education program was definitely what first intrigued me. The music education degree at UT certifies you to teach Music for K-12, and prepares you for various career paths in music education, including teaching elementary and secondary programs in choir, band, and orchestra.

What do you like best about the University of Tampa?

The University of Tampa gives you the opportunity to work hand in hand with your professors and classmates. I love collaborating with them because we all bring different ideas and experiences to the table.

How will this program help you in the future?

I know that UT’s music program has set me up for great success in my field. I want to be an elementary music teacher and also be able to be an adjunct professor at a university. The University of Tampa has been so helpful to prep me for graduate school and has been very helpful in giving me the opportunity to network with other music teachers in the Tampa Bay area.

Where do you imagine yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years, I imagine myself having opportunities to go out and perform, but most importantly having my own classroom and being able to see my students smiling faces as they come through the door to their music class!
