    The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Richmond, Virginia offers a variety of graduate and undergraduate degrees in design, fine and performing arts, with a unique emphasis on creative immersion. Far more than simply an education or preparation for a career, students leave VCUarts with the practical, professional and personal skills needed to make a life in the arts, no matter how they define it. Thats why our programs emphasize both doing and knowing. Why the majority of our faculty are working artists.     In our 16 departments and programs, you’ll explore emerging and traditional mediums. You’ll be challenged to experiment with new ideas as you hone your talents and expand your interests. You’ll master fundamental principles in the arts, design, performance and scholarship through a a rigorous academic experience. We’ll help you develop the skills you need to be prepared for wherever your path might lead.

Whether you want to work with engineering students to reinvent transportation systems, use photography and film to raise awareness about conservation issues, or explore how design can information conversations about history and public spaces, you’ll find plenty of opportunities for dynamic collaboration.
