    Overview

Wooster's mission is to help students develop independent judgment, creativity, project-management & time-management skills, self confidence, and strong written & oral communication skills. Programs are student-centered and nurture intellectual curiosity, critical inquiry & a passion for learning.

Wooster is Americas premier college for mentored undergraduate research.

Why should you care? Because Wooster students research experiences help them develop abilities prized by employers and graduate schools alike: critical thinking, independent judgment, creativity, project-management and time-management skills, self-confidence, and strong written and oral communication skills.

Students can begin working with faculty on research in their first year at Wooster. The Applied Mathematics Research Program, Sophomore Research Program, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Summer Research Scholars program provide opportunities for hundreds of students every year.

Then in senior year, each Wooster student works one-on-one with a faculty mentor to conceive, plan and complete a significant piece of original research, scholarship, or creative expression, in a capstone program called I.S.
