    Overview

Gettysburg’s Sunderman Conservatory provides excellent, comprehensive musical training grounded in the liberal arts for students who seek to make music integral to their lives, whether as a career or a life-long avocation.

Degrees are offered in Music Performance, Music Education, and Music with many students pursuing a double major with the latter along with another academic discipline.

Gettysburg College also offers strong programs in the visual arts, theatre, and cinema and media studies.  The Art and Art History department offers a flexible program of study in interrelated studio and art history courses, with potential majors in two areas, art history and studio art. Theatre Arts students explore the theatrical event as a complex unit - one that is founded in literary and historical roots, and then translated into performance through the work of playwrights, actors, directors, and designers. In Gettysburg's Cinema & Media Studies program, students may pursue either a major or minor, providing a deeper understanding of film, television, and other various media forms not only from an artistic perspective, but also as cultural, economic, and socio-political entities.
