    Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD)

    National Conservatory of Wales and Number 1 for Drama in the UK (by The Guardian League Tables 2018) , RWCMD is a centre of excellence for the performing arts and an All-Steinway Conservatory.  

     

    The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, competes alongside an international peer group of conservatoires and specialist arts colleges for the best students globally, enabling students to enter and influence the world of music, theatre, design and techical theatre. 
    Set in the grounds of Cardiff Castle, bordering one of the largest and most beautiful urban parks in the UK, the College is well known for its distinctive warm and welcoming character. With just over 800 students, there is a real sense of community and we are able to offer out students an outstanding level of support.

    The College educates some of the most talented students from around the world, aiming to give them not just the technical and craft skills they'll need to succeed at the top levels of the profession, but also to help them develop their individual artistic "voice." RWCMD's dedicated teachers have a wealth of professional and industry experience and the College collaborates with a number of high profile arts organizations, including Welsh National Opera, BBC NOW, and visiting artists and directors, to ensure that the unique vocational nature of our training programs reflect the current practices and conditions of the professional world.

    Undergraduate courses are offered in Acting (BA), Stage Management & Technical Theatre (BA), Performance Design (BA), Jazz (BMus), and Music (BMus). Graduate courses are offered in Acting for Stage, Screen & Radio, Arts Management, Brass Band Conducting, Choral Conducting, Composition, Historical Performance, Jazz, Music Performance, Musical Theatre, Opera Performance, Orchestral Conducting, Orchestral Performance, Collabrative Piano, Repetiteurship, Stage and Event Management, and Design.  

    Principal study areas include Brass, Composition, Conducting, Guitar, Harp, Historical Performance, Jazz, Keyboard, Percussion, Strings, Vocal & Opera, and Woodwind.
