    Overview

Southern State is committed to its mission to provide accessible, affordable and high quality education to people in southern Ohio. We offer a variety of technical and transfer programs that emphasize real-world skills.

At Southern State we continually review curriculum to align our academic offerings with workforce demand and have recently expanded programs to keep pace in the ever-changing fields of health, human and social services, computing, engineering, business and many more. The student to faculty ratio is 17:1. This kind of environment provides for a great deal of individual attention and support. Southern State sponsors several athletic teams that compete nationally in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) which is comprised of two-year and four-year colleges situated around the state and country. These teams include men's basketball and soccer, women's basketball, softball and volleyball. Southern State may award scholarships to student-athletes who participate in these sports. Throughout the year, Southern State presents art exhibitions featuring local and global talent. Most of the events also include meet-the-artist receptions. The SSCC Theatre provides our students knowledge and skills in the dramatic arts through classroom instruction and a professional production process. SSCC Theatre produces three main stage productions a year. Typically these productions are in the fall, spring and summer. All main stage productions utilize involvement from the school's students and faculty as well as community members. If you have a voice or musical talent we want to hear it! Southern State Singers and SSCC Community Band are perfect outlets for the musician in you. The Southern State Singers group is composed of both students as well as community members who make up the core of the group. During the quarter system, the group performed a Christmas concert, a late winter concert and a spring concert each falling at the conclusion of the three quarters as well as at college events and for community groups. The Southern State Community Band is composed of members from all over the college community.

Southern State has four convenient Campus Locations in Hillsboro, Washington Court House, Wilmington and Sardinia, Ohio. We primarily serve the counties of Adams, Brown, Clinton, Highland and Fayette.
