    Overview

Tennessee Wesleyan College seeks within the framework of the Judeo-Christian tradition to provide for students the highest quality educational experience; to promote personal responsibility, integrity, and purpose; and to prepare students for a life of leadership and service.

Near the center of Athens, Tennessee, Tennessee Wesleyan University provides experiences one expects from a major university with the attention and nurturing a liberal arts education offers.

At Tennessee Wesleyan College, we believe in hard work and serious fun. With more than a thousand students, Tennessee Wesleyan is small enough for you to be a distinctive part of its community, yet large enough to provide numerous student activities, organizations and modern residence halls.

Since its founding in 1857, TWU has been dedicated to helping students live a meaningful life. Offering more than 30 undergraduate and graduate programs, students prepare for in-demand careers in industries like business, science, health professions and education. Faculty and staff are dedicated to assisting students in the realization of their full potential through holistic and transformational learning experiences in the classroom, the field and the community. A multitude of service learning opportunities provide all TWU students the chance to grow as leaders and set a foundation for lifelong meaningful achievement.

As a part of the TWU family, the southeast Tennessee community plays an important role in the development of this region’s future leaders. Main campus is located two blocks from the town center, with easy access to the surrounding area. Additional locations in Knoxville and Cleveland provide convenience to students in the nursing program, management excellence degree completion program and the new Master of Occupational Therapy program. In addition, some programs and classes are offered online. No matter where a student chooses to take their classes - they will find learning experiences and a supportive community to help them grow personally and professionally.

Through strong academic programs, service-learning opportunities, student organizations and athletics, TWU helps students become enlightened servant leaders who believe in serving others, pursuing knowledge and leading by example. Tennessee Wesleyan is a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and features more than 20 athletic teams for men and women. In addition to athletics, students can participate in more than 25 clubs and student organizations, providing all students opportunities to grow their leadership skills and foster relationships with fellow classmates.
