    Overview

The Jazz and Contemporary Music School is committed to excellence in undergraduate music education. The program is distinguished by our artist-as-mentor approach to classroom teaching; our progressive curriculum on group performance; and our superbfaculty, a community of legendary musicians.

Our university's immense resources can infuse your music curriculum with elements of design, literature, history, journalism and more. We encourage you to consider courses offered at Mannes College The New School for Music, Parsons The New School for Design, and Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts. Additionally we have created a constellation of project based interdisciplinary classes such as the exploration of sound-image relationships in early 20th century multimedia art offered by Parsons and Jazz. The results of this university wide infusion can be seen in the incredible stories of our alumni successes across genre, category, and creative work life both in, and around music.
