    Overview

The University of Vermont combines faculty-student relationships most commonly found in a small liberal arts college with the resources of a major research institution. UVM's setting between the Adirondack and the Green mountain ranges, inspires visitors and residents.

The University of Vermont is home to 9,970 undergraduate students, 1,317 graduate students, 454 medical students, and 1,364 full- and part-time faculty. Located in Burlington, Vermont (named America's #1 College Town in Travel + Leisure), UVM's setting on the shores of Lake Champlain, between the Adirondack and Green mountain ranges, gives a mountaintop perspective of all that's possible – and offers the tools to get you there.

UVM offers a public ivy experience to its undergraduate students. The average undergraduate class size is 30, and students may choose from 100 undergraduate majors led by gifted faculty who inspire and prepare students for every kind of success after graduation. UVM undergraduate academic colleges and schools include: Agriculture and Life Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education and Social Services, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, Environment and Natural Resources, and Nursing and Health Sciences. In most cases, a student is not required to select a major until the end of the first or second year. The Honors College offers an academically heightened environment for some of the university's most outstanding undergraduates.

    UVM also offers 45 master's programs, 20 doctoral programs, an M.D. program, and four pre-professional options (pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-vet, and pre-law).
