The Ascent Gap Year Internship provides High School graduates with a short-term, full-time, camp ministry experience. Students are equipped personally, professionally, and spiritually in Christ-centered identity formation and servant leadership skills while working in a full-time ministry setting. While going through our experiential process with personal coaching, the students focus on understanding their God-given purpose and building a plan for future direction.
The Ascent Gap Year Program is a residential program on the campus of Grace Adventures, in Mears, MI. Students serve ministry through camps, retreats, and trainings to students, adults, and families. They are involved in leading experiences and behind-the-scenes preparation while learning about themselves and others. The full-time ministry team works alongside and guides them in their daily assignments. They are challenged through independent study, individual coaching, and small group discussions.
The Ascent program starts at the end of August with a week of orientation and leadership training. The graduation ceremony takes place in mid-May. In this 9-month program, the students have the opportunity to participate and support in many the following activities:
- High Adventure: ropes course, climbing tower, zip line
- Low Adventure: teambuilding, group challenges
- Field games, Arts & Crafts, Basketball, Kickball, Gaga, 9 square
- Archery, Boating, Laser Tag, Biking, Obstacle Course, Dune Hike
- Snow Tubing, Broomball
- Horseback trail rides, wagon rides
Here are some quotes from those who have completed this incredible experience:
It's the best decision I could've made. It opened doors for the future, changed my way of thinking, gave me real-world tools to use, strengthened my relationship with God, and allowed me to make relationships that will last a long time. Selena, Ascent Graduate
It's an amazing opportunity to meet like-minded people while growing your walk with Christ. It also will help you find out what's next in life. Matt, Ascent Graduate
