    Overview

Experience our interdisciplinary curriculum to develop as an artist, designer and scholar. SAIC's 3 and 6-week classes offered over 4 back-to-back sessions each summer allow visiting students to explore classes in painting, drawing, fashion, film, performance, writing, art history, art administration and more.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), one of the most historically significant accredited independent schools of art and design in the nation, is located in the heart of downtown Chicago. Our accolades are many, including recognition by Columbia University’s National Arts Journalism survey as “the most influential art college in the United States” and our consistent ranking among the top three graduate fine arts programs in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

Gap students at SAIC live in one of our downtown campus housing facilities. Students will have direct access to one of the world’s most creatively vibrant and architecturally rich cities, participate in course-related local field trips, utilize state of the art facilities, engage with our award-winning faculty of artists, scholars, and leading practitioners, and experience all that a Chicago summer has to offer: festivals, concerts, cultural events and more! And, you will earn college credit while following your passion for art!
