    Overview

Commonwealth is an independent, coed day school for grades 9 through 12.

At Commonwealth, we’re looking for intellectually curious and creative students from a wide range of backgrounds. The academic atmosphere, while rigorous, is extraordinarily collaborative. Small classes allow faculty to take students deep into a single line of text or to unravel a complicated math equation. Students with particular interests in science, history, math, and more can go as far as they want to at Commonwealth. Broad art, athletic, and extracurricular offerings, from ceramics to cross-country to Diversity Committee, engage students in additional independent explorations. Through these pursuits, students at Commonwealth enjoy a warm social life, in which individuality is cherished. In class discussions or in hallway hangouts, playing Frisbee on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, or riding home together on the T, students support each other, and making friends comes naturally.
