    Overview

Falmouth Academy, an academically rigorous, coed, college-preparatory day school for grades 7-12, is guided by teachers who believe that students willing to work hard can meet the demands of a core curriculum that explores English, history, science, mathematics, foreign language and the arts.

We are a small school by design, and our small size determines many of the personal qualities we seek in applicants to the school. It is important that our students understand and embrace the values of generosity and respect that are vital to a community like ours. Also, we seek candidates who will get involved in the life of the school, try new things, and take advantage of the opportunities for leadership that this small community provides.

The best time to apply to FA is for the 7th grade. Those students who are with us from the beginning adjust most smoothly to this challenging school. We take great care in the 7th and 8th grades to teach skills which prepare students to be successful here later. While we strongly encourage families to consider applying to the 7th grade, every year we admit students at other grade levels, particularly grade 9.

The school focuses on a core curriculum which stresses reading and writing. Seminar-style classes averaging 12 students allow active participation and individual attention. There are no back rows at Falmouth Academy.
