    Overview

Merion Mercy Academy, an independent, Catholic, college preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, offers a holistic education which encourages academic and personal excellence. Its curriculum stresses mercy spirituality, global awareness, and social responsibility.

Merion Mercy Academy is a Catholic, independent, preparatory high school for girls sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy of Merion. Located just outside Philadelphia, MMA serves a population from Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties and students traveling from south New Jersey. We opened our doors in 1884 and had our first graduating class in 1895. Now, 125 years since our founding, we have 490 young women who are learning the importance of scholarship, leadership, character, and service to others.

An important part of our mission has been the service of the poor and unfortunate. Catherine McAuley, the foundress of the Sisters of Mercy established her community as a way to connect those with means to the more unfortunate. Our students take this mandate seriously as they have reached out to others in meaningful and responsive ways.
