    Overview

The region's leading choice for secondary education for public and private tuition students since 1854.

At Norwich Free Academy, we empower our students to be fearlessly independent. Here, they have the freedom to explore their passions from the arts, sciences and humanities to hospitality, manufacturing and much more. Our robust selection of core and elective courses is unmatched by any public school in the region, giving students endless opportunities to explore new horizons.

NFA meets each student where they are in their academic journey. Courses at NFA encourage independent thinking and motivation while also providing intervention support for students in need. Our faculty and counselors will work with students to select courses that challenge them at the appropriate level.

NFA offers a variety of honors courses in English, math, science, world language and social studies for students who demonstrate incredible aptitude, initiative and creativity. For entering ninth graders, consideration for placement in honors courses is determined by the student’s results from the High School Placement Test, prior academic achievement record and teacher recommendations.

Our ever-expanding visual and fine arts, music and performing arts programs provide an enriching experience for students who seek to hone their artistic skills. With Slater Memorial Museum located on the NFA campus, it enhances our ability to vigorously prepare students who plan to pursue art school.

NFA has a rich history of athletic tradition and success in sending student-athletes to compete at the collegiate level and beyond. We offer more than 30 sports with over 50 varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams, providing opportunities for Wildcats at every level to compete.
