A supportive community with STEM focused education in a safe, small class environment for Preschool to Middle School.
Students excel at The Franklin Academy where they are part of a supportive community with STEM focused education in a safe, small class environment for all grades. Students outperform Bellingham and Washington public school students on standardized tests. Our devoted teachers average more than 11 years of classroom teaching experience. Each K-8 teacher has a Bachelor’s degree, and most faculty members have advanced degrees.
Our programs provide each child with challenges that scaffold in appropriate increments from preschool through middle school in Humanities (Language Arts/Literature), Science, Math, and Social Studies. We have additional specialized teaching in both Music and Spanish in preschool, then starting in Kindergarten, students add Art, Physical Education, and Library to their weekly schedule. In Middle School, students have Coding/Technology, Economics/Science Fair Research, and electives like Band, Makerspace, and Robotics added to their educational journey. Our faculty works in cross-grade teams to create a curriculum that provides an optimal learning environment and seamless transitions from year-to-year.
