    Overview

At the Swansea Wood School, an exceptional education and specialized trauma informed treatment services go hand in hand. As part of the fully accredited Meadowridge family of schools, Swansea Woodprovides individualized treatment services to adolescents between the ages of 12 and 22.

Many of our students come to us because they are struggling in traditional school settings due to issues such as past trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and cognitive limitations. Our supportive program allows students to continue their education in a safe, secure and supportive environment in which they can learn and grow.

The Swansea Wood School uses state of the art behavioral health and trauma specific models of treatment for youth who are cognitively limited, including the unique ARC treatment methodology, and works to ensure this treatment model is pervasive throughout all aspects of programming. Developed in conjunction with the cutting edge work of Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and his colleagues at the Trauma Center at JRI these intensive, individualized treatment interventions feature an array of services designed with a single goal in mind: to prepare our students for a strong, healthy future.
