    Overview

The mission of The Foundation School is to bring together the talent, skills, and motivation of education professionals committed to working together, defining the nature and needs of its students, and cooperatively devising techniques, strategies, and materials to optimally meet those needs.

The Foundation School is a day school for students ages 3-21 with a variety of developmental needs, learning deficits, autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges. The students may present with deficiencies in perceptual and motor development, speech and language acquisition and processing, learning disabilities, and/or social skills and emotional adjustment. The basic concept of the program is twofold: first, to provide each child with an individualized program to meet unique needs; and second, to utilize a staff of special education teachers, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, specialty teachers, and trained paraprofessionals as a team to implement the program. Students can be placed by their local school district or, directly, by parents. A teacher to pupil ratio of better than 1:3 is maintained. In addition to the regular school year, an extended school year program is provided each summer.
