American University’s (AU) School of International Service (SIS) Community of Scholars program is your gateway to an extraordinary summer of intellectual growth and exploration. Tailored for high-achieving high school juniors and seniors, this program is perfect for students eager to deepen their understanding of international affairs and global politics. During the program, students enroll in a rigorous three-credit college course and immerse themselves in the vibrant D.C. ecosystem.
This program combines two weeks of in-person learning on AU’s campus with a final week of online, asynchronous instruction. All classes are held in AU’s SIS, one of the nation’s top-ranked international affairs schools. The curriculum is designed to challenge students to explore complex global issues like diplomacy, security, sustainability, and human rights. Guided by expert faculty, participants will engage with cutting-edge theories and real-world applications, sharpening their analytical thinking and intellectual curiosity.
Beyond the classroom, students experience D.C.’s dynamic community firsthand through visits to government agencies and global organizations. These experiences offer unique insights into how leaders tackle complex challenges and help students build a network of peers and professionals who share their passion for global change.
By the end of the program, participants earn an official AU transcript, a milestone marking their academic growth and expertise in international affairs. The credits may transfer to other universities, but AU would be thrilled to welcome students into its community in the future.
Don’t miss this opportunity to broaden your perspective, deepen your knowledge, and prepare for a future of global impact!
