    Overview

Our Apprentice Hunter program is designed to provide in-depth, hands-on training and a chance to learn hunting skills and tactics for whitetail deer, turkey, upland birds, and other game. Each day will be spent honing shooting skills, and learning specifics about the various game and hunting opportunities available. With safety as the focus, you’ll learn from Maine Guides and instructors, and will have the chance to go on an actual game bird hunt during the week. Find out more!

Hosted by the University of Maine, this camp is led by certified 4H Shooting Sports Instructors. It is designed to provide hands-on experience with hunting skills. Students can expect to learn hunting tactics for turkey, upland birds, whitetail deer, and other game. There will be plenty of workshops focusing on shooting skills, hunting opportunities, animal behavior, and of course, safety. While no previous experience with hunting is required, completion of a hunter safety course is highly recommended. Students can also expect to go on an actual bird hunt and learn to cook their harvest. There will also be plenty of traditional camp activities such as canoeing, ropes course, hiking, kayaking, and swimming.
