    Overview

As You Like It summer courses give your child a chance to explore an area of passion or academic need in short, concentrated form with live one-on-one or small-group instruction and conversation. Based on your child’s interest, we will develop a 3-8 session course that takes 1-2 weeks to complete. Scheduling is highly flexible in order to accommodate your child’s summer travel and activities. Name your topic--our experienced teachers can probably cover it!

    Summer Mini-Courses from Russell Education

Give your child the gift of knowledge in an individual or small-group setting. Our teachers have a wide range of interests and expertise, so we can design a 1-2 week, 3-8 session course on almost any topic, academic and otherwise. The goal of the program is to provide the learning experience that you want for your child at a time that suits your family.

    Key Advantages of the Program

    • Range of offerings
    • Flexible scheduling
    • Instructor expertise
    • Adaptable to any age

    Offerings

Enrichment—Does your child have a passion that’s not addressed in school? Our tutors can teach a variety of topics (see the list below for some examples). Whenever possible, the program will include activities that take children away from computer screens.

Academic—Perhaps there are one or two math topics, aspects of writing mechanics, or scientific concepts that your child had trouble with last year. Most teachers will indicate in their end-of-year comments what they think a student needs to work on. If not, a quick email will likely elicit that information. A week or two of intensive work on that particular area can strengthen the skills and knowledge needed for the next grade.

    Scheduling

We’re flexible. To the best of our ability, we will work with you to shape your mini-course to fit your life. Depending on your child’s daily activities, meetings could potentially be in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings. Courses can be extended.

    Expertise

Almost all of our academic instructors are current or former teachers, so they have experience in creating and implementing curriculum.  For non-academic topics, instructors have had significant personal or professional experience in that field.

    Adaptable

Our instructors can work with students K-12 and beyond. If you know what you want, we can most likely handle it. If you’re not sure what might be interesting or helpful for your child, we can work with you and make suggestions. Our people can approach the same topic in different ways for different ages. Reduced rates for small groups (up to 3).
