    Overview

Chemistry can be among the most challenging requirements for college-bound students.  But these courses don’t have to be difficult!  Our one week intensive courses are designed to give students who are in, or entering high school, an edge in their chemistry courses.

The curriculum is designed to equip kids with crucial skills and strategies, helping them to avoid the pitfalls that so many run into.  The goal is to propel students to success. The programs have been tailored to focus on the topics that students often find most problematic.  Students will  establish a strong base.  These programs will bolster students’ inquiry and problem solving skills.

Chemistry topics to be covered will include algebraic manipulation, dimensional analysis, identifying common sources of error, atomic structure, the design of periodic table, formula writing and naming compounds, and basic problem solving in chemistry.  Ideal for those taking Chemistry this fall or in upcoming years.

This one-week summer program is designed for teens interested in receiving tutoring as preparations for fall courses.

    • "The program was very rich in content, and I learned myriad of information over the past week. The teacher was very informative and lenient, making sure we had a strong grasp of the information. The review sheets we started class with everyday were especially helpful, as they provided a recap of the information from previous days. I liked how we started the course with everyone on the same level before learning new material. In general, I feel that this course was extremely beneficial and will prepare me well for the school year."

    • "The program itself is extremely efficient as it covers over half of the high school curriculum. The pacing is set at the speed of the student understanding, so it is fit for all types of kids. The teacher made the class entertaining as well as informative, adding in practice and important labs that were covered."

    • "I really enjoyed the class and the program. The class was extremely detailed and information filled, and gave me a great look into what my chemistry class during the school year will be like. Coming out of the class, I feel like I have a real advantage going into the school year, as the class was interesting and clearly taught. I liked the teaching style and pace, as we managed to fit almost a full semester's worth of information into a week while spending enough time on each topic to gain a clear understanding."

    • 'I loved how fast paced and engaging Chemistry Edge was. The goal of taking this class was to prepare myself for an Honors level chemistry course, and the fast-paced learning combined with Michael's enthusiastic/informative teaching definitely helped me to accomplish that goal. Something that I did not think we would learn about was the history of chemistry, which I really liked. Mr. Horesh was a great teacher who clearly knew a lot about chemistry and was very enthusiastic while teaching. This made his teaching effective but he also made learning fun.'

    • 'The program was very helpful and I feel prepared for next year. The teacher was very understanding and able to work with everyone. Able to review the topic later on. He was very kind and understanding. The class was engaging and a good stepping stone for class next year. He made chemistry fun and I thought I would hate it before. He was funny and able to connect with the students. Made it interesting.'

    • 'I really enjoyed this program and the teacher was really great. I liked that we got many practice problems to do, and that everyday we would brush up on the concepts of the previous day before moving on. I think this course did a really good job of prepping me for Chemistry class this coming fall.'
