Brown’s pre-college online courses are rigorous, active learning experiences designed and led by Brown’s innovative, dedicated instructors for high school students around the world.
Explore challenging subjects through coursework designed to inspire curiosity and discovery, engage in intellectual discussion, and connect with students from around the world – enthusiastic, creative and accomplished students like you.
Topics include health sciences, engineering, creative expression, leadership, and more.
Academic challenge and meaningful, personalized feedback
Throughout the course, students will interact with their instructor and student peers. The instructor will evaluate student assignments, respond to student discussion posts, and invite the students to connect one-on-one to provide support and advance their learning.
Access coursework anytime, anywhere
Brown’s online courses are asynchronous, which means students are not required to log in at a set time of day. Courses are designed so that students committing about 10 hours per week are able to complete the course.
Academic Success – week by week
The first week of study begins with a few days of course orientation: getting to know Canvas (Brown's learning management system), reviewing course expectations and strategies for success, learning about the instructor, and helping us to learn a bit about the students.
Once the course itself begins, and in the following weeks, students will be working with their instructor and classmates on a variety of assignments and activities, for which they will be expected to log in daily to participate in discussions and keep up with course assignments. Students who meet all course requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion and a Course Performance Report.
Pre-College online courses are not offered for college credit.
