    Overview

What do a taxidermied sparrow, a slip of papyrus covered in Egyptian hieroglyphs, and a purse knit from human hair have in common? All are objects that could be found in a “curiosity cabinet” during the Victorian era. Students in this summer class will engage in hands-on archaeology as they research a variety of unique and mysterious objects. They will conclude the course by creating a curiosity cabinet (museum display) of their artifacts.

Providing a summer of academic discovery, The Ethel Walker School’s All For Girls Summer Academy is where curiosity meets exploration and fun! Our in-person program for grades 5-8 is an immersive learning experience on our picturesque campus in Simsbury, CT while grades 9 and 10 collaborate in cutting-edge online spaces. All courses have been designed by Walker’s renowned faculty who turn every lesson into an adventure and every student into a fearless innovator.
