    Overview

Camp Sonshine is an incredible summer camp for kids & teens 4-16, located in Silver Spring and Germantown, Montgomery County, Maryland. The Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program is for young adults in the 9th to 12th Grade. The Leadership-In-Training (LIT) program is for grades 7th to 11th.

The Counselor-In-Training (CIT) and Leader-in-Training (LIT) Program equips teens with leadership skills they can use throughout their lives. Teens will learn important leadership skills, such as:

    • Problem solving
    • Communication
    • Community Service
    • Responsibility
    • and so much more!

We teach these vital life skills in a safe environment through fun and challenging group leadership sessions as well as hands-on experience working with kids alongside trained counselors.

CIT Program in Germantown-- With the same responsibilities and leadership experiences as our past CIT program, your teen will now have the opportunity for a more one-on-one mentorship based program. CITs learn these vital life skills in a safe environment through fun and challenging group leadership sessions and hands-on experience. These teens work with kids alongside trained counselors and help maintain group control, create a safe environment, and assist in activities while putting their leadership skills into practice.

LITs in Silver Spring help maintain group control, create a safe environment, and assist in activities while putting their leadership skills into practice. This well-renowned program is approved for student service learning hours as required for High School graduation. Teens have also used this type of leadership experience to put on applications to such organizations as the National Honor Society and various colleges.
