    Overview

The YMCA Camp Wiyaka Leader in Training program is a chance for 15 & 16 year old campers to step it up to the next level and prepare for their future roles at camp and in society.

At Camp Wiyaka, our philosophy is that Leadership takes many forms. As a Leader in Training (LIT), you will spend a day with each of seven program specialties. At the end of the session you will lead a program developed by LITs with support from senior staff. LITs get to have some fun too, including off-site trips and other advanced opportunities only available to LIT campers.

LIT’s will participate in a 2-week training session over the course of a summer working with all members of the camp staff to learn what it is like to be a camp leader and senior staff member. While Successful completion of the LIT program does not mean that future employment as a staff member is guaranteed, it will help with having recommendations from having completed the program. The next step in the process would be completing the CIT Program the next year.
