Capitol Debate invites middle and high schoolers to our summer camps, where debate and public speaking skills are honed. These programs offer a unique mix of personal growth, skill-building, and summer fun, fostering confident communication and critical thinking. Our curriculum focuses intensively on developing articulate speakers and skilled debaters. Here's a closer look at our focused training approach:

In Public Speaking, our focus areas include:

Use of Emphasis and Pauses: Enhancing speech dynamics for impact.

    Confidence: Building self-assurance.

    For Body Language, we emphasize:

Eye Contact: Engaging with the audience visually.

    Hand Gestures: To reinforce messages.

Body Movements: Incorporating movement for emphasis.

Body Postures: Maintaining a confident, approachable stance.

    We train students in:

Powerful Openings: Captivating the audience from the start.

Clear Statement of Claims: Presenting arguments concisely.

Backing Claims with Supporting Materials: Strengthening arguments with evidence.

    In Debate, our focus includes:

    Cross-Examination: Skillfully questioning.

    Refutation: Effectively countering arguments.

Powerful Closings: Concluding debates with impact.

Persuasion: Convincing the audience through logical argumentation.

At Capitol Debate, our 'summer camp first' approach combines engaging learning with fun, team-building activities.
