B-WISER stands for Buckeye Women In Science, Engineering, and Research. This premier science camp serves middle school girls interested in STEM fields throughout the state of Ohio. The residential program includes daily courses with a full laboratory experience to advance campers’ skills in a range of scientific disciplines. Campers stay overnight in college dorms and utilize campus laboratory facilities.

Typically the camp is limited to girls just finishing the seventh grade; however, because the program was cancelled last year, we welcome applications from both 7th and 8th graders for the 2022 camp session. Note this is a girl-centered program open to all students who identify as a girl/female in any way; please see our gender inclusivity policy for more information.

Throughout the camp week, students take a full daily curriculum with classes in robotics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and scientific model building. This cooperative learning experience boosts self-confidence and inspires girls to pursue their passions.

After classes, girls meet with female career exemplars who share their journeys in many areas of science. And in the evenings, campers participate in hands-on programs on topics ranging from civil engineering to boomerangs to light and waves. Click for a sample daily schedule.

Founded in 1990, B-WISER has inspired and empowered thousands of girls to pursue science courses and STEM degrees.
