The Cottonwood Gulch Turquiose Trail is a program designed for young women 14-16 who love being outdoors and are eager to explore the Southwest. Find out more!
For 36 days, students will trek through desert canyons, mountain peaks, and plenty of stunning landscapes. They will also learn about ecology and the culture of local communities. In addition, the collaborative environment will allow them to develop leadership and communicative skills in order to overcome challenges. Every year, this program is packed with amazing opportunities. Students may climb the Wheeler Peak, which is the highest mountain in New Mexico. They may also hike up to 15 miles a day to Keet Seel, a beautiful cliff dwelling. They'll also have the chance to learn survival skills such as how to read a topographic map, tie knots, pick a campsite, and cook on a single burner backpacking stove. At the end of the five week trek, students will come away with impressive skills, amazing memories, and plenty of new friendships.
