    Overview

In the Democracy, Peace & Conflict Academy, you’ll look in-depth at how democratic societies deal with conflict through a blend of lectures and interactive exercises.

You’ll learn about the important role of elections in the peaceful transfer of power and the causes of electoral violence. You’ll debate why democracies endure and why they erode as you investigate the role of leaders, civil society organizations, and political institutions. You’ll practice tools that citizens can use to counter political polarization, such as perspective-taking, dialogue, and nonviolent communication.
