    Overview

Under 18 but still want to volunteer abroad? GVI sends thousands of teenagers abroad every year through our specially designed under 18 volunteer projects. Youth volunteering opportunities overseas is an invaluable opportunity for high school students to gain life experience.  Our voluntary work experience projects aim to give young adults (aged 15 to 17) a perfect blend of volunteering, cultural and language immersion, skills training, and adventure activities.

Until 2011, GVI volunteer programs were only available to adult participants over 18 years of age. However, we at GVI are strong believers in the transformative power of participating in international volunteer work, and we want to make such educational and life-changing experiences available to younger volunteers. In 2011, we launched Teen Programs in order to expose young people to the experiences which had up until now only been available to adults.

From the over 140 volunteer projects we operate worldwide, we have carefully chosen the ones that are best suited for younger volunteers. On these select projects, GVI volunteers will have greater supervision, a fascinating community of peers, training, and world-class leaders chosen for their mix of experience in the field and ability to mentor and inspire young people.
