    Overview

    The MEDscience@HMS Dental Program provides an immersive, hands-on learning environment for high school students interested in science and medicine, particularly in oral health. Students actively engage in simulated medical cases and dental scenarios, gaining valuable insights into dentistry and and its relationship to overall health.

    Participants will learn essential clinical skills related to oral healthcare while exploring various aspects of dentistry. Students will meet dental professionals as well as dental students at Harvard School of Dental Medicine who can share their journey in the dental field, helping students discover rewarding careers in dentistry.

    DIAGNOSE & TREAT

    Learn about oral health and dental diseases by treating “patients” in the HMS MEDscience high-tech simulation lab. Gain skills to evaluate, diagnose, and treat our life-like, interactive patients. Work alongside dentists, physicians, and dental students in a specialized small group.

    PRACTICE CLINICAL SKILLS

    Learn hand skills such as placing IV’s, suturing, tooth carving, taking impressions, digital scanning of the mouth, and filling tooth cavities. Explore and practice the artistry of dental procedures and gain a sneak peek into the world of dentistry.

    EXPLORE HEALTHCARE CAREERS

    Experience a day in the life of students at the Harvard School of Dental and learn from faculty and residents. Envision yourself as a future dental practitioner and foster a passion for oral healthcare.
