    Announcement Summary: Legal Outreach is a Legal Education non-profit. The Summer Law Institute (SLI) is a five-week program for rising ninth graders that seeks to inspire students to strive for academic excellence and to pursue careers in the law. Eighth-grade students from Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island are eligible to apply for the SLI. During the SLI, students will learn about criminal justice, the criminal trial process, and participate in a mock trial competition in front of actual judges!

    Students will also meet a variety of attorneys and judges, and attend field trips – all while learning the necessary skills to succeed in high school and beyond. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a mock trial in front of an actual judge. In addition, you will meet different attorneys each day and attend field trips each week. The SLI will also teach you the skills you need to excel in high school, including critical thinking, writing, public speaking, and persuasion. Due to COVID-19, the 2021 Summer Law Institute will be virtual.
