    Overview

Set on a college campus in the heart of New York City, Camp Manhattan School of Music is a residential camp (with a day camp option) that provides intensive musical instruction in musical theater and instrumental music for students who have completed grades 6-11 (ages 11-17). Find out more!

Manhattan School of Music Campers will develop their musical skills and join a community of young musicians through a wide variety of musical and social activities. Former campers have hailed from across the United States and from around the world.

    WHAT CAMPERS WILL EXPERIENCE

The rigorous musical theater curriculum includes acting, vocal coaching, dance, and performance techniques. All voice majors will have a private lesson each week with a camp faculty member. Singers will develop their vocal skills, stagecraft and dramatic interpretation, as well as gain valuable performance experience, as they rehearse and prepare for the summer’s culminating musical theater production. Performances will be fully staged with costumes and will be presented in Manhattan School of Music’s 846-seat main auditorium.

Instrumental majors will participate in various large and small ensembles, which may include orchestra, string ensemble, woodwind ensemble, percussion ensemble, jazz band, Latin jazz band, clarinet choir, flute choir, 4-hand piano, and an array of chamber groups. All instrumental majors will have a private lesson each week with a camp faculty member. Performance opportunities will take place throughout the summer in Manhattan School of Music’s state-of-the-art recital halls and main auditorium.

All campers will receive theory and ear-training classes. Campers can also choose from a diverse array of musical and non-musical elective classes including composition, improvisation, acting, art, songwriting, conducting, and many more. In addition to studies with our expert faculty, campers will also have the opportunity to participate in master classes given by renowned performing artists.

All Camp MSM faculty are experienced educators and active performers. Many of our faculty are Manhattan School of Music alumni.
