    Overview

    Are you interested in pursuing a career in the Fashion Industry? The Marist Summer Pre-College Program in Apparel Construction for Fashion Design provides you with an opportunity to experience some of the exciting elements of fashion design while you earn college credit and experience college life. Upon completion of the course, high school students will receive three college credits along with the opportunity to explore the exciting world of fashion design.

    Apparel construction and sewing techniques will be explored. The students will be introduced to draping garments directly to a dress form and explore their design ideas. Draping will be the primary focus of the class. Students will be introduced to professional construction techniques & terminology used in the fashion industry, as well as learning fabric manipulation and patternmaking. The summer experience will be further enriched with a field trip to New York City in order to explore New York City Fashion Industry.
