Explore the Living World at Missouri S&T’s Nature Camp
Grab a magnifying glass and embark on an exciting journey into the world of biology, ecology, and environmental science! Campers will explore Missouri’s diverse ecosystems, using scientific methods to observe, collect, and classify the living world around them.
From creepy crawlers to soaring insects, campers will investigate nature up close, identifying plants and insects through detailed inspection and classification. Through engaging hands-on activities, they will learn the fundamental principles of taxonomy, biodiversity, and natural history.
Daily Schedule: This day camp includes a daily drop-off between 8:00–8:30 a.m. and pick-up between 4:00–4:30 p.m.
Camp Highlights
- Hands-On Exploration: Campers will collect specimens from local ecosystems, learning about their habitats and unique characteristics.
- Scientific Investigation: Using lab tools and close observation, campers will analyze their specimens and categorize them based on scientific classification.
- Engaging Activities: Through fun projects, campers will gain insight into entomology, ecology, and the role insects play in our environment.
- Final Showcase: At the end of camp, participants will present their curated specimen collections, demonstrating their newfound knowledge to family and friends.
