    Urban vs. Rural: An Adventure in Both Worlds

    Do you enjoy the energy of the city or the tranquility of the countryside? This camp offers a unique opportunity to explore both urban and rural environments in one exciting experience. Dive into the challenges and opportunities faced in the 21st century, while discovering how cities and nature are interconnected.

    Camp Activities:

    Urban Exploration

    In the urban portion of the camp, campers will engage with professionals to understand the challenges of modern city living. With the guidance of civil and environmental engineers, they’ll explore key issues such as water quality, residential planning, building design, construction, and public health. Activities include:

    • Touring the S&T Green Roof facility and learning about sustainable building practices
    • Exploring solar houses and understanding geothermal systems
    • Visiting the construction materials laboratory to see real-world applications
    • Walking the urban watershed and testing for water quality
    • Participating in drinking water treatment and runoff analysis

    Rural Adventure

    In the rural portion of the camp, campers will connect with nature, engage in outdoor activities, and learn from a biology research scientist. Activities include:

    • Water and soil chemistry experiments
    • Insect identification and rock hunting
    • Plant and tree identification
    • Stargazing and learning about astronomy
    • Kayaking and hiking in scenic locations
