Welcome to the Energy Exploration Camp!
Energy is all around us! In this camp, we’ll dive into energy-related phenomena and explore how energy transfers using the Project Lead the Way Launch module "Energy Exploration."
Campers will discover the many ways energy impacts our world. They'll make observations, investigate energy transfer, and learn through scientific explorations, hands-on activities, and exciting field trips to energy sources. By the end of the camp, campers will understand why energy is so vital to their lives and the world around them.
This day camp offers a daily drop-off between 8:00–8:30 a.m. and pick-up in the afternoon between 4:00–4:30 p.m.
Camp Activities:
- Explore Real-World Energy Careers
- Campers will visit local businesses to explore careers in energy and engage in an interactive experience on “Main Street.”
- Virtual Field Trip to a Dam
- Take a virtual tour to explore energy sources and understand how a dam harnesses power.
- Windmill Design Challenge
- Using VEX Go, campers will use the engineering design process to create a windmill prototype with moving blades, learning about renewable energy in the process.
- Alternative Energy Exploration
- A field trip to the solar village and green roof at Missouri S&T will introduce campers to alternative energy sources and their real-world applications.
- Collision and Safety Design
- After studying the science of collisions, campers will design a restraint system for a vehicle. Using VEX Go, they’ll create a vehicle to carry an egg down a ramp, testing their design to keep the egg intact during the journey.
Join us for an exciting journey into the world of energy, where curiosity, creativity, and engineering meet!
Registration fee includes all meals, housing, and camp materials.
