    Overview

Using high school-level math and science skills, each camper will design and construct a small spacecraft that they will then help launch on a high-altitude balloon to 100,000 feet. Throughout the camp, instruction will include satellite building and testing, laboratory tours, and interviews with aerospace engineering faculty and students. The camp will conclude with a high-altitude balloon launch, during which campers will track their satellite as it travels to the edge of space.

    Camp Activities include:

    • Introduction to soldering and electronic basics
    • Introduction to Arduino programming and sensors
    • Design and construction of satellite structure
    • Ground testing and troubleshooting
    • Launch logistics and tracking
    • Q&A with Aerospace Engineering Students
    • Tour of Space Systems Engineering Laboratory
