    Overview

Traditional school curriculums often overlook practical life skills such as how to buy a car or a home, start a business, or become an effective leader.  Our Life Skills programs prepare teens with essential skills and knowledge areas that are critical to becoming a competent and successful adult.  Our Life Skills programs include Personal Finance, Introduction to Investing, How to Start a Business, Career Planning, and Effective Leadership.

Our mission at My Skills Prep is simple; to empower teens and young adults with the knowledge and skills to be successful.  My Skills Prep offers year-round virtual camps and enrichment programs for teens ages 14-19 that are taught in live class sessions.  Our programs are centered on evidence-based curriculum that includes core skills for success, life preparedness, and college preparation.  Our programs are delivered in live interactive sessions with our instructor so that students receive personalized attention while having opportunities to interact with other students.

Please see the following program descriptions:

Personal Finance - Learn the concepts and habits of personal financial responsibility, achieving your financial goals, and building wealth.

Introduction to Investing - Learn about investment markets, portfolio management, and the concepts of being an effective disciplined investor.

How to Start a Business - Learn how to start a business, write a business plan, and assess business opportunities.

Career Planning - Learn how to determine what to do with your life and career, plan your education, and land your dream job.

Effective Leadership - Cultivate the traits and qualities of an effective leader, including how to earn trust, motivate and influence others, and communicate effectively.

You will actively engage with what you learn through activities and diagnostic exercises.  In addition to your initial introductory class session, there will be ten class sessions held over a period of five weeks.  To attend your live class sessions, you will need a Windows or Mac computer with a webcam and stable internet connection that provides access to Zoom video conferencing.

Our instructor, Lantz Stringham, has more than 25 years of experience studying individual and organizational success.  This research includes more than several hundred interviews conducted with high-level executives and administrators at businesses, corporations, and schools.  Mr. Stringham also achieved a successful career in investment management where he served as chief investment officer, overseeing more than one billion dollars of both private and institutional assets.  Mr. Stringham has served as a guest lecturer on the topics of success and finance at both high schools and universities.
