    Overview

Summer Camp at Outpost is a San Diego tradition! We look forward to you joining our camp family offering programs for ages 5-7 (Pre Camp), 6-10 (Day Camp), and 11-14 (Senior Outpost). We offer four two-week sessions between June and August each year. We also offer a Junior Counselor program for teens entering 10th grade through their first year of college.

    Junior Outpost

Camp Adventures for Children Entering K-2nd Grade

Junior Outpost is the “perfect first camp experience” created just for our youngest campers. Carefully designed by our directors to be a nurturing introductory program for younger campers, Junior Outpost operates “half day” from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and is full of traditional Outpost fun and adventure. Our counselors are chosen and trained to embrace the creativity and imagination of each camper to create an inventive and inclusive environment. Sessions are two weeks long, five days per week Monday through Friday.

    Day Camp

An Outstanding Camp ExperienceFor Children Entering Grades K-5*

Outpost is an “old-fashioned” day camp completely outside and unplugged. Our Day Camp Program is designed to embrace the creativity and differences of each camper to create an inclusive environment and unique group identity. Located at Canyonside Community Park and the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, our campers get back to the basics of facilitated outdoor play. Each session is two weeks long, five-days-per-week Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

    Senior Outpost

Exploration & Adventure for Campers Entering Grades 6-9

Senior Outpost is a unique program specifically for middle school campers who are ready for the excitement and exploration of an outdoor adventure program. It is designed to offer positive risk taking experiences and opportunities to try new activities. Each activity is intentionally chosen to advance each camper’s physical, social and emotional skills. Our Senior Outpost Program is a two-week session, five-days-per-week Mondays through Fridays 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for middle schoolers located in Canyonside Community Park and the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve. Our 2022 Senior Outpost program activities include paddle boarding, kayaking, beach days, pool, and high ropes!

    Junior Counselors

Students who are entering 10th grade – freshman year of college in the fall

The Outpost Junior Counselor program is a summer leadership program for high school students. There is no cost for this program, and we accept students after a formal application and interview process. This program is designed to help high schoolers build important skills including problem-solving, communication, creativity, teamwork, and group facilitation. Junior Counselors (JCs) receive high quality training and feedback facilitated by directors and senior counselors. Over the years, we have found that being a JC results in hilarious stories, special memories, formative learning, and countless “aha moments” regarding leadership, child development, and the JC’s own passions and interests.

    100% Outside and Unplugged

Outpost’s entirely outdoor environment allows our campers to reconnect with nature, get the exercise their bodies need and see their inner creativity spring back to life untethered to devices or at-home comforts.

    Unique and Customized Adventures

Each group’s experiences are tailored to the ages and personalities of the campers. Our counselors embrace the creativity and differences of each camper to create an inclusive environment and unique group identity.
