    Overview

Investigate the business of professional and amateur sports with emphasis on its unique evolution and manifestation in New York City, the nexus of the sports industry. Starting with an overview of American sports, students will discover how and why the business of sports came to exist.

Through a combination of seminars, site visits and attendance at sporting events, students experience the various sectors that comprise this ever-expanding and ever-changing industry.

    Course Highlights:

    • Learn firsthand from sports professionals who intimately know the landscape, having the opportunity to interact and network.
    • Ideal for sports-obsessed students or dedicated athletes who long to turn this passion into a profession, students will meet people who have made a career out of sports – whether playing it, working with players, organizing it, working with leagues or working with the media.
    • Complete a project for which the class will use their newly gained understanding of the industry to meet a sports management challenge such as the development of a business model for a new professional sports league.
