    Overview

SOCAPA mixes the best of elite film programs and exciting summer camps. Nowhere else will you find this level of filmmaking intensity combined with this much fun.  Write, direct and edit a film per week of attendance.  Introductory to advanced opportunites. Find out more!

Core Filmmaking is SOCAPA's most popular summer film camp intensive. Equivalent to a college level introduction to filmmaking course, Core Filmmaking is a fun, hands-on introduction to narrative filmmaking that challenges students to write, directs and edit their own films. Each young filmmaker also has the opportunity to work as a Director of Photography, Sound Technician, or Production Assistant as they crew on their classmates' films.

    Advanced Filmmaking:

Students accepted into the Advanced Filmmaking intensive focus on making two longer, more polished films that they can use as part of their college applications and submit to film festivals. In addition to advanced classes in cinematography, sound, and digital editing, students attend writing and directing classes where they learn advanced techniques for developing scripts and working with actors. Students receive extensive one-on-one advisements from our seasoned staff of instructor/filmmakers — all of whom have experience at festivals and with agents.
