Summer at Santa Catalina is a sleepaway and day camp for girls ages 7-14. Located in beautiful Monterey, California, Summer at Santa Catalina features six weeks of camp including a five-week session for our musical theatre program.
Summer at Santa Catalina is dedicated to the mental, emotional, and spiritual growth of girls through experiential education. Our summer camp program strives to nurture girls as they begin to build their independence and self-reliance.
Day and resident campers fully participate in four communities at camp: with their camper groups, in classes, on camp teams, and with all campers together. Each of these inclusive communities allows our campers to interact with each other in unique ways.
Campers are grouped by grade in a co-created communal environment led by camp counselors. Each group has a unique name, and campers enjoy bonding with other campers their age over meals, silly competitions, and other fun activities.
Campers select class preferences from a wide variety of classes ranging from STEM, arts, and crafts to sports, cooking, and more. There are five class periods per day, with some classes lasting two periods. Choosing their own schedule is an awesome opportunity for our campers!
Musical Theatre: Our five-week musical theatre session is the best of both worlds for our camp performers. Each morning, campers receive specialized training from instructors who know their craft inside and out, including tech, set design, costumes, dance, and performance. Afternoons and evenings are spent with the larger camp community participating in classes, field trips, activities, and camp traditions. But the best part is the show they perform in our state-of-the-art 500-seat theatre.
Leadership at Camp: Campers entering grade 9 can take part in our leadership program, Catalina CREW: Confident Resourceful Empowered Women. CREW is an intentionally designed leadership class focused on identifying individual leadership styles and practicing communication skills. Campers gain hands-on leadership experience by planning and facilitating an all-camp program. Catalina CREW campers can opt to return in their 10th-grade year as a counselor-in-training.
