    Overview

    Sustainable Summer offers programs that prepare teens to become environmental leaders and innovators through our unique programs, held in Summer 2024 at Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) and Yale University (New Haven, CT).

    Sustainable Summer's pre-college Leadership Academies are the ideal campus-based summer program for motivated high school students to engage in serious inquiry on the subject of environmental sustainability.

    Programs include:

    The Student Climate & Conservation Congress (Sc3) U.S. Green Schools Fellow Program recognizes and honors distinguished high school students who are, or aspire to become, climate & conservation catalysts in their schools and communities. This program is offered through the Department of the Interior's National Conservation Training Center, where students spend one exceptional week learning from faculty and experts in the government, non-profit, and corporate sectors exploring environmental, social, and economic interconnections that impact climate change, environmental justice, natural resource conservation, youth activism, and the challenges and opportunities facing their generation in an ever-changing world.

    Environmental Leadership & Innovationat Cornell is a fun and hands-on way to expand your understanding of sustainability while making friends from all over the world who share your passion for the environment. This is an intensive two-week program designed to develop students’ knowledge of sustainability concepts, problem-solving and leadership skills and a deeper understanding of self.

    Environmental Leadership & Innovationin Brooklyn takes students beyond the trendy and into an exploration of the Sustainable City with Brooklyn and NYC as our classroom. This is an intensive two-week program designed to develop students’ knowledge of sustainability concepts, problem-solving and leadership skills and a deeper understanding of self.

    Environmental Leadership & Innovationat Dartmouth is ideal for high school students with a strong interest in environmental sustainability, and is particularly well suited to students interested in social entrepreneurship, environmental policy, community activism and non-profit ventures. This is an intensive two-week program designed to develop students’ knowledge of sustainability concepts, problem-solving and leadership skills and a deeper understanding of self.

    Cost and Session Information

    Our programs have three different tuition tiers:

    • our “standard” rate is the full program cost,
    • our “tuition assistance” rate is a “honors system” 17 - 20% discounted tuition, and
    • our “scholarship” rate is an up to 100% of tuition in financial assistance.
