    Overview

NYC’s only fashion design & sewing camp (est. 2010) that includes sewing and the business side of the fashion industry. Teens ages 13-17 can join us for a week of sewing & fashion design! Meet real fashion designers all while learning to sew in the heart of NYC's garment district.

The Fashion Class is a year round program and facility that teaches teens sewing, draping, marketing and merchandising all throughout the school year and summer. Our camp instructors are graduates of fashion and art programs at some of the best fashion schools in the world, like Parsons and FIT.

Our fashion camp is for serious fashionistas who want to make their designs and dreams a reality!

Join us as we sew, drape, shop at Mood Designer Fabrics and go on amazing trips to meet real fashion industry pros! Our past trips have included Marchesa, Tommy Hilfiger, Marie Claire magazine, Austin Scarlett and more. We also show you the manufacturing and marketing side of fashion with factory, trade show and visits to our favorite supply stores. Finally our camp wouldn’t be complete without trips to the best fashion exhibits at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute.

Each camp day will involve sewing in our fully equipped studio, fashion design & illustration plus a field trip or guest speaker to give insight into this fabulous industry. Our teen designers get to choose their own fabric from Mood Fabric Store (featured on Project Runway) on the first day of camp. On the last day of camp we hold a professional photo shoot featuring the work of our campers! All fabric, trip and supply costs are included in the camp fee.

    Things you will learn:

    • How to Sew, Draping and/or pattern making
    • Marketing yourself as a designer
    • Fashion Illustration (perfect for your college application portfolio)
    • Plus meet actual designers who work in the industry

    Class Descriptions:

Fashion Illustration & Branding: Campers will learn from a professional Fashion Illustrator how to sketch the croquis, render fabric and use paint, fashion markers and more to bring their design to paper. We will also work on creating a fashion brand. Perfect for those looking to apply to a fashion design college program!

Sewing: In our sewing class students will learn to use the sewing machine to create garments of their choosing with fabric purchased earlier in the week. We encourage students to make one-three items in one week. Our studio also has serger machines, dress forms and steam irons as well as all sewing supplies.

Field Trips/Guests & Activities: Our campers will go on a wide range of field trips. Day one will be dedicated shopping for supplies at Mood Designer Fabrics (Included in camp fee). The rest of the week will include a fashion exhibit, trip to a showroom, and fashion industry guest speakers. On Friday, the last day of camp, we hold a photo shoot!

Campers work on sewing machines that are easy to use and equipped with needle guards for extra safety. All supplies are included in our fee and campers take home their creations.
