The Penn Band High School Summer Music Camp (Grades 8-12) is a week-long instrumental music experience annually held on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. Our student-centered and student-driven program provides visiting musicians a unique blend of music and mirth, set against the backdrop of our historic college campus and the City of Philadelphia.
GREAT MUSIC AND GREAT FUN!
ABOUT THE PENN BAND HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER MUSIC CAMP
Yet another great program is taking shape – one not to be missed! From fantastic music in our beautiful facilities to fun activities on campus and in the city to great performance opportunities, our program promises students a rewarding experience that will not be found anywhere else!
A low student to instructor ratio is maintained to insure a high level of instruction and attention to each student. Our program includes guest lectures on topics in student leadership, group-building, and conducting. Most importantly, we provide a fun and rewarding experience that the students will always remember.
Our repertoire is broad, ranging from jazz to standard wind band repertory to today’s latest popular music. This repertoire is on display in performance, including three public performances during the camp week at prominent destinations. Past performances have included visits to Penn's Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Historic Franklin Field, the iconic Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral, The Battleship NJ, The Franklin Institute, and the Philadelphia Phillies. Augmenting the performance experience are guest musicians and clinicians, providing for the most unique performance opportunities availble.
We pride ourselves on the fact that students have memorable experience that they will never forget and meet other great people! As one of the oldest and most active college band programs in the country, the Penn Band prides itself on its unique blend of tradition, good music, and good fun – a blend found nowhere else. We encourage you to also visit the group’s website to learn more about our organization.
